Bleeding Does Not Define You

Vulnerable, painful, embarrassing, stigma, anxiety, uncomfortable, unsure, resentful, happy, and joyful are words that came to mind when I thought about periods and specifically my experiences. Not all women bleed and not all those who bleed are necessarily women. The stigma, embarrassment and anxiety surrounding menstruation is so real. I no longer want to hide my pads up my sleeve or creep around public toilets as to not make noise. Normalising menstruation as a subject is so important and creating an open dialogue to celebrate, discuss seriously and casually all the factors that affect many of us or those we know. I hope that these images may empower those who have felt these emotions. Let’s talk about periods!
